Contractor/Supervisor Training – Initial & Refresher Courses

Blue Island Environmental and Training provides IDPH-accredited Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Initial and Refresher training at our Blue Island, Illinois training facility serving Chicago and the surrounding Chicagoland area. Training prepares contractor/supervisors to oversee asbestos abatement activities while protecting workers, building occupants, and the public and complying with applicable federal and Illinois requirements.

Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Initial Training

40 Hours / 5 Days — $250

The Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Initial course is designed for individuals who will supervise asbestos abatement projects and workers. Training covers asbestos hazards, regulatory requirements, respiratory protection, personal protective equipment, work-area preparation, engineering controls, decontamination, asbestos removal procedures, waste handling, air monitoring, recordkeeping, and supervisory responsibilities.

Students must successfully complete the required training and course examination to receive a training certificate.

Course Includes:

• Asbestos health effects and hazard recognition

• OSHA, EPA and Illinois asbestos requirements

• Respiratory protection and personal protective equipment

• Work-area preparation and containment

• Negative-pressure systems and engineering controls

• Asbestos removal and abatement procedures

• Decontamination and cleaning procedures

• Air monitoring and clearance concepts

• Waste handling and disposal

• Supervisory responsibilities and recordkeeping

• Hands-on exercises

Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Refresher Training

8 Hours / 1 Day — $150

The Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Refresher course is for previously trained contractor/supervisors who need annual refresher training. The course reviews asbestos abatement procedures, supervisory responsibilities, worker protection, regulatory requirements, and changes affecting asbestos abatement projects.

Students should provide documentation of their previous Asbestos Contractor/Supervisor Initial or Refresher training.
